How to make a WiFi QR code
A WiFi QR code stores your network name, password and security type. When a guest scans it with their phone camera, the phone offers to join the network, so nobody has to read out or type a long password.
- Choose Wi-Fi Network Connection.
- Enter your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on a phone, then the password.
- Pick the security type. Most home routers use WPA / WPA2 / WPA3. Choose the hidden network option if your WiFi name is not broadcast.
- Create the sticker, scan it with your phone to test it, and print it.
Tips for a WiFi QR code that works
- Copy the name and password carefully. Both are case-sensitive.
- If your password is only digits, that is fine. QRFino formats it so phones read it as a password.
- Use Medium or Large size for a table or wall.
- Place it where guests scan comfortably: reception, a table stand or near the door.
Is a WiFi QR code safe?
Anyone who scans the QR can join your network, because the password is inside the code. Use it for a guest network where possible, and change the password if the sticker spreads wider than you intended.
